Pulitzer Prize-winning historian C. Vann Woodward postulated that “one of the strangest things about the career of Jim Crow was that the system was born in the North and reached an advanced age before moving to the South in force.” Lionel will discuss the main developments in this period of American history.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Lionel Porter’s fight against racism and discrimination began as a child growing up in segregated Mississippi. His early experiences inspired him to earn his Juris Doctorate degree and become a lawyer for the NAACP.
